Weekend Recap

I spent the majority of the weekend working on my quilt and some good 'ol fashion family time, so all in all it was stress free...if you don't count the times I spent thinking about my {business} trip next weekend.  I know when people read I'm going to NYC, they assume it'll be an exciting experience, but the fact is I'm going under THE MOST uncomfortable circumstances.  When I think about the chance to see New York again, my immediate thought is, "I wish I would be seeing it with my husband..."  I mean who better to take to the Museum of Modern Art than an art teacher???  I totally love it when he gets all educational about art.
I digress...back to the weekend recap!

{Friday}

We went to Target later that evening to grab a few things and we see this ad in the pajama section..

Now, I know they are marketing this towards the soon to be all knowing, grown up college students, but really?   I don't think of myself as a prude, but if you're sitting next to me, have the decency to put on a shirt chick. Now I know when you're roommates, you will see each other occasionally in your skivvies, but I have never just plopped down next to my roommate or even best girlfriends in my brassiere to watch a movie, lol.  AND if I'm sitting on the couch in my good 'ol pj's (which consists of some stretchies and a baggy t-shirt) and you came and sat down next to me with your boobicles an inch away from my popcorn, I would politely say to you, "Um, I don't know where you think you are, but this ( I would then point to your exposed area) is a no."  I might also make fun of you the rest of the evening...hey, I'm just being honest :)

{Saturday}

Early in the AM, Matt took kiddo to the flea market while I did the (once a month) grocery shopping.  Well, after an hour of hauling around a cart stuffed to the brim of groceries, which I'm pretty sure I pulled a back muscle, I decided I deserved a chocolate candy bar.  When I watch the Food Network, they occasionally talk about adding cayenne pepper to chocolate and my first reaction is always, "EWW," but I will try any food once Especially candy related.
Not bad! It was still sweet and the spice was subtle at first.  You really didn't get the full heat until you swallowed.  I don't think it's something I could have all the time because I'm pretty sure it gave me a small case of heart burn that evening. Ha!

{Sunday}

Since I have never been away for more than a couple of days, I was in search for luggage.  Naturally, I asked my parentals first.  My mom every few years visits family in Korea, so surely they had luggage.  I called my dad up and sure enough they did.  ReliefOne less thing to worry about.  So, I go to my parents to pick up the luggage and to my surprise I recognized it.  It was the SAME luggage they had when we moved here from Korea...in 1983!  I was in shock that they STILL had it.  As much as I would have loved to show up with "vintage" American Tourister suitcases, unfortunately the keys were nowhere to be found.  So, I had to suck it up and go shopping now.

Luckily, my mom did have a carry on bag of this decade, but I ended up buying a bigger one as well.  I tried squeezing Matt and Christian in it, but it it didn't work. I'm hoping this will be enough.  I hate to admit this about myself, but I'm a high maintenance gal in regards to hair and makeup, so I probably should do a dry run sometime before I leave.

So, there you have it.  I hope everyone has a great week!

Question:   What is the one thing you would want to do or see in New York?

I have never visited NYC despite the fact that my husband has been there for business a few times. I would want to see Central Park and of course the shops on 5th Avenue despite that fact that I doubt I could afford the price tag in most of them! NYC is on my bucket list. Your blog is funny! Loved the Target ad commentary! I too have never sat around in my bra watching a movie with anyone much less my girlfriends who would look at my like I had lost my mind if i tried that!

Shame on Target. Shame, shame.

Have a GREAT time in NYC! Now that you are a quilter, you could always hit up the fashion district for fun. There is supposedly an awesome (and probably expensive) store there called Purl Soho. I've used some of their online tutorials before. And Mood Fabrics from Project Runway. :) Have a good trip, my friend. I'll be praying it's short and sweet.

I've never been to NYC and hope that even if you don't get to go with your husband you find some enjoyment even little bit ;)

Omg, your comment about the ad is funny. I have friends that sit around like that and they think it's normal and I just give them the wtf look lmfao. Some people are just way too comfortable, lmfao

It is a big dream of mine to see a musical on broadway. I usually catch them in Tulsa when they arrive years after they have been running in NYC, but I would LOVE to see the big stars on stage. :)
