A Belated Independence Day Recap

Yes, I realize it is Friday and we are now entering another weekend, but while I have a brief moment of free time, I thought I would share my LAST weekend activities.  Let's Begin :)

Friday...

One of my closest gals got hitched :)  I will ignore the fact that she chose to have an outdoor wedding in July...I will ignore the sweat that developed on my bum, and I will ignore the couple lbs I gained eating the finger lickin' BBQ AND Mexican cuisine she had catered in.  I ignore all these things because hanging out with Jill and her family is never a dull moment.  We always have a good time when we get together, so I hope everyone else ignored the sweaty butt print left on my chair :)  She married a good man, but more important she is happy and that is all I care about.

Saturday....

We perused the flea market.  We hadn't gone in awhile and I could see my husband was getting the itch.  Matt always hits all the tables with records or "action figures."  Christian just stares at the flea market regulars, and I saw the above poster for the Lilith Fair and it brought me back to my teenage angst years in the 90's listening to Sarah McLachlan ("In the arms of an angel..."),  Tracy Chapman ("Give me one reason to stay here and I'll turn right back around..."), Meredith Brooks ( "I'm a bitch, I'm a lover, I'mma...a million other things), and Joan Osbourn ("What if God was one of us...just a slob like one of us...").  Ooooh yeah, can you feel the estrogen??  Of course, now when I hear Sarah McLachlan I think of abused animals.  Speaking of flea markets, have you all heard of that show called, "Flea Man"?  Well, the show is about a man that helps people sell their gently used junk, I mean goods at local flea markets.  If you haven't, it's really nothing special...I just think that is an awful name for a TV show.  I get it, ooooh he's the FLEA MAN...it immediately makes me think of FLEAS and it almost sounds like a super hero...but he's not all that super, just man covered in fleas.

After the flea market...

Christian took a dip in his new pool.  Granted he looks super happy in these photos, but it took awhile before we reached this point.  The last couple of times he flipped out because it was cold...I guess he likes it like a jacuzzi.  So, we let the water set out for awhile and that is when we got the above reaction.

So while he was out and already wet....

I had Matt run in and grab the soap :)  Hey, the water was clean and warm...I just thought why not knock out bath time early.  I bet any of you would bath outside in a kiddy pool if you could ;)  I live behind a church and we have a chain linked fence, so that's not gonna happen anytime soon.

By the way...

Our garden is pumpin' out veggies like crazy!  Mmmm grape tomatoes...and the 2 okra I have no clue what to do with...

And finally 4th of July....

My little firecracker, hubs, and I went to what I refer to as "the country" for some good company and yes delicious BBQ.  When I say "the country" its a good thing.  It's refreshing out there.  You got beautiful sunsets, green pastures, gravel roads, no neighbors for miles, and animals!  The Turner's and Bradley's invited us out and lets just say the food was worth the wait. Mmmmm. Christian had other kiddos to play with even though he kept trying to jack everyone's toys...yes, he's that kid..the clepto.

And here are 3 of the 5 Turner's...

Little Miss Avery is now 3 months old and her colic is slowly dissipating.  She had one colicky moment that night and it immediately brought me back to this time last year.  Christian was still so colicky that we opted out of the Bradley 4th of July celebrations.  At one moment, momma Casey teared up and all I could say was, "Girl, I know, but you're doing a great job."  It is a very anxious feeling when you, the mother, are not able to calm your babies cry.  It wears on you emotionally and eventually the only thing you can do is cry yourself.  I have much love for parents working through colic.

So that was my 4th of July weekend EXTRAVAGANZA!!  Now its Friday again!  Woot woot! Everyone enjoy :)
