It's the Freakin' WeekEND! This week in Summary

LITERALLY, as soon as I finished up my last blog, I have been in Go Mode.

Last weekend, my friend Casey went into labor....she was admitted Thursday night and didn't have her until 8pm the following evening. My thinking was since she was admitted Thursday night, she would have the baby sometime Friday morning, so I showed up bright and early @ 7am.  OH, I should probably mention she asked me to be in the delivery room with her and her husband.  Feeling totally honored, I couldn't wait to experience this moment with her...above the neck of course!   Ha!  Well, baby girl just wasn't ready.  Casey had an epidural and 3 bolus doses and the pain kept coming back. To make a long story short, the doctor decided the best course of action after almost 22 hours of labor was a c-section and with a c-section only one person is able to accompany you.  I know most of you are thinking I wasted 12 hours of my life, but honestly I didn't mind.  If I could make her laugh or bring any comfort during those 12 hours, I'm content :)  Besides, I find hospitals oddly comforting...maybe because I've been in and out of them most of my life.

Don't you love the conehead?  Christian's was awful!  I swear it looked like another smaller head on top of his gigantic melon.  Sheesh!  Good job Casey!  Now the fun begins ;)  As you are currently experiencing the first week, I'm totally lying.  I never cried so much in my life that first week of new found motherhood!  My hormones were so out of whack and sleep deprivation made it 10x's worse.  Just remember my friend, this too shall pass ;)

Then came the plague...

Let me begin with this photo.  It really explains it all...

Sad huh?  I saw this face almost this whole week.  That Friday my husband took our kiddo into the pediatrician.  He had some serious congestion...you could just hear the phlegm raddling around in his chest, but no ear infections.  The doctor thought it was probably a cold that was turning into a sinus infection.  They prescibed him some antibiotics and we were on our way.  Well, a couple of days went by and he just wasn't getting any better.  In fact, I felt it was getting worse.  For the first time, I think my mommy intuition kicked in. Way to go intuition, you finally decided to start working.  We took him back to the doctor Tuesday and sure enough, he had developed a double ear infection and a sinus infection.  They even did a chest x-ray to make sure he did not have pneumonia.  In the mean time, Matt and I also had sinus congestion.  We all looked so pathetic this week, but poor baby boy had it the worst.  He is FINALLY feeling better.  Like any mother, when your child looks like the above photo, it just breaks your heart.  It was the first time he really has been sick, so I enjoyed all the cuddling he gave me and "mommas"  he said to me.

It's supposed to be a nice sunny weekend, so I'm going to take advantage of it as much as humanly possible short of sleeping outdoors.  Have a SUPA DUPA weekend Ya'll! (say ya'll like Paula Deen, its more fun).

mine was 22 hours too! it's amazing what us women can endure. it's weird how you forget that as soon as the miracle is lying next to you. nothing else matters but your baby being healthy and happy. =) i love mommy blogs! thanks for sharing.
